Used MY parts for the job, then billed me for the parts. Also, walked off with MY de-humidifier. Not to be trusted!

Absolutely disgusted! I hired this company to fix a part in my furnace. They did not have to diagnose the issue because another local company already did. The other company could not get the part to my furnace in because it was on backorder and refused to use an aftermarket part. I was quoted $325 for the OEM part from the other company. I also went on Google and found hundreds of aftermarket parts. They ranged between $100-$300. When I called Andersons, I explained my situation and they said they could get the part in 2 or 3 days but it would be $539.34. I thought the price was steep but really needed my furnace as this was a very cold winter and had been without heat for almost a month. A few days later the part came in and they set up my appointment. The day of the appointment, I was home to greet the 2 men that they sent to do the repair. They were at my home for 14 minutes before I had to leave. I asked the technicians if I had enough time to run a quick errand and come back but they said they would probably be done before I returned. I left my debit card on my counter as payment and asked for them to please leave a receipt. I returned home 35 minutes later to see they were gone. They left me a figure of 1,125.37 written on a piece of the box my part came in. The box also had the actual cost of the part written on it and it was $3 less than what I was charged. As soon I read the price I was charged, I immediately reviewed my cameras. I have 2 cameras outside and one in the room that my furnace is located because its also where the rear entrance to my house is. The technicians were done working when I asked them to move their vehicle so I could leave my driveway. Im not sure why they said they weren't done before I left. I watched them stand outside talking for 17 minutes after I left. They went inside and grabbed their tools and left. That took approximately 4.5 minutes and to write their make shift receipt. Total time spent installing my part was less than 15 minutes. I then called Anderson shortell to ask what their hourly rate was. I was never given a straight answer. I was just told that they charge from the time they leave their last job to get to my house. Then charged for the repair and then charged until they make it back to the shop? I was taken back by this statement because never once did anyone mention this travel fee. I assumed I would be charged a full hour if they only worked 15 minutes but not charged 2 hours per technician. The owner ended up refunding me $320 for 1 technician but still made me pay $320 for 2 hours of labor and travel time. I told him I asked him to just refund my card and he claimed to not know how to refund a debit card? I have never heard a business say that?Instead he said he would send me a check. I told him I would pick up the check because at this point I didn't trust one word he had to say. He agreed. When I arrived to his business at 4:05pm they were closed. The next day I drove back out again to get the check, he then said, the mail man must have grabbed it? So that was 2 trips from limestone to olean that were wasted. I should send him a bill for my travel time. He also didn't put my full name on the check he mailed me so who knows if my bank will cash it. Im also a business owner in Olean and I cant imagine doing business the way these guys do. Word of mouth is everything. Im definitely going to warn everyone about my experience. Judging by these reviews, Im definitely not the only person that feels they were ripped off by these guys. If you charge large travel fees or your double charging people depending on how many technicians are sent to their homes, you NEED to make your customers aware of that prior to working on their homes. I enclosed photos of all of my complaints. Im 100% reporting these guys to the Better Business Bureau. Please pick a different company. Trust these Google reviews.

Anderson Shortell Plumbing has been outstanding to work with. They consistently respond to building emergencies at Eden Heights of Olean quickly and professionally, which is critical in a healthcare setting like ours. Their team clearly knows what they’re doing — they have experienced, knowledgeable plumbers who take the time to explain issues in plain language, work efficiently, and focus on fixing the problem the right way. Their pricing is fair and transparent, and we’ve never felt pressured into unnecessary repairs or upselling. That honesty and integrity means a lot. Most importantly, the quality of their work speaks for itself. Repairs they’ve completed for us have held up for years, which says everything about their craftsmanship. Anderson Shortell is trustworthy, reliable, and genuinely committed to doing the job right. We truly value our partnership with them and would highly recommend Anderson Shortell to anyone looking for skilled, honest plumbers who stand behind their work.

All of the positive reviews just have to be from family, because the level of unprofessionalism and negligence from these people is downright criminal. 10 months without heat, just using the space heaters they left here since October in an effort to not have my cats freeze to death. On the two occasions someone actually did come to work on the heater, they ripped trim off of the wall and cut holes in it, which whatever I suppose, but then the absolute professional just left a mess of nails and wood all over my floor. They also gave me and my landlord conflicting answers about what was wrong with the heater (I was told it had a blown transistor, she was told it needed a new gas line.) Not trustworthy at all.
