We recently wrapped up a 6 month renovation with Struck and Sons that completely transformed our home into a space we are excited to be in each and every day! When Ben came for our initial meeting at the house, he was attentive and patient listening to all of our ideas. We could tell how passionate he was and we instantly clicked with the family feel of the entire team. Shane, Scott, Mike K and Steve kicked off the demo process. They were extremely efficient and they treated our home like their own (even the dumpster stayed organized!) We were on site every day, as communication is key, and we truly enjoyed getting to know the entire team throughout this process. Kyle came in for HVAC work and did a phenomenal job. This renovation had a lot of moving parts and we appreciated Ben always having a local contact when materials or expertise were needed. Mike T painted every wall, ceiling, trim, cabinets, etc. in just about our entire house. We are thrilled with his work. Shane and Scott both went above and beyond to ensure every detail on this project was fully thought out and functional for our space. Renovation projects can come with times of uncertainty and may feel stressful, but when Shane and Scott were on site, they brought clarity and confidence to each decision we were working through. Shane and Scott are solution focused and the final results speak for themselves. Mike K came in for finishing work and ensured every detail was perfect. From start to finish, they were professional, responsive, and committed to delivering high-quality work. Ben was exceptional throughout the entire process. He was always available to answer my questions, listened carefully to my concerns, and made sure every detail of the project was completed to my satisfaction. What truly set Struck & Sons apart was their willingness to advocate for me while dealing with an incredibly frustrating homeowners insurance claim. Although the process took nearly six months because of insurance issues, Struck & Sons remained persistent and supportive every step of the way. I hired Struck and Sons last year. A huge willow tree fell through my moms roof and entered the home. It was a mess. Considerable damage to multiple rooms. Structural damage. I had a very hard time finding an actual contractor to come out. I finally came across Struck and Sons. Ben came out with his camera to figure out the damage. Things went smooth in the beginning. Communication was good. Ben had questions I answered as best and timely as I could. I asked for some recessed lighting in the living room. Ben made that happen. I agreed to pay the extra money... no problem. Painters/adry wallers wanted more money to patch the cracks in the walls/ceilings. I happily agreed. I picked out the paint. No problems there. I picked out flooring from a person Ben recommended in henrietta. I went. Picked out the flooring. A few weeks later Ben texts that there was a problem with his floor guy. No problem! I was trying to be as easy going about this process as possible. I took a picture of the flooring that I picked out. I told Ben it did NOT have to be an exact match. I would be happy with something that he could get that was as close as possible. No problems there! I came to check on the house 1 day and lo and behold there are light fixtures up in the kitchen and dining room. ( where the majority of the damage was) I didnt pick out the light fixture. They just assumed what we wanted up. Okayyyyyy. Its not that big of a deal I guess. If it didnt work out we could just spend more money to replace them after they were done. Now we get to the end of the work. I expressed major issues with the back deck. (Again major damage. A huge willow tree fell on it.) I text Ben. He wasnt so quick with the response. Its completely uneven. And the entire thing leans forward. Ben passed me on to Richard Struck. Richard Struck met me at the house for the final walk through. I showed him what was up with the deck. They only replaced the planks that were broken. That. Was. It. I told Richard I have elderly parents and this isnt safe for them to be on. My mom is unsteady on her feet as it is. Richard's basically told me it is what it is. He told me he can understand where Im coming from though. He told me at that point that the deck wasnt built eight and needed to be rebuilt. Ok! Why wasnt that a phone call or a text to let me know? They could have put whatever money they were going to use to bandaid it and put that to a new deck. I would have paid the remaining balance. I didnt understand that. Ben couldnt explain it in a way that made sense. Richard couldnt either. What Richard DID offer was this. He told me once spring time came he could come back and give me a very fair price on the cost of a new deck! I politely declined. I told Richard I would rather find a different company and pay more to have it done right. Because they clearly wanted the money to bandaid it and to install a new deck. No thanks! Its springtime now and the deck isnt good. There are still soft planks and could break at any time. Im currently looking for someone to come replace that. I refuse now to use or recommend Struck and Sons. So if you dont want to pick out your own light fixtures and want a bandaid fix. Use them! They did have to come back out after my parents moved in to finish. 2 things. 1 there was still thick wire that fell from the line in the back yard. And the second thing was to rehang a door they removed. Only 1 of those were accomplished. They removed the wire from the backyard. I really wish this had went better. When many contractors were unavailable, we responded quickly, worked directly through a complex insurance claim, accommodated additional requests including recessed lighting, upgraded flooring, and additional flooring areas, and completed the project well ahead of schedule. Regarding the deck, we would like to clarify that our contract and the insurance-approved scope were limited to repairing damage caused by the fallen tree. During the repair process, it became apparent that the deck had significant pre-existing deterioration, including framing that had been in direct contact with the ground for many years. While this condition created challenges during the repair, our team repaired the storm-related damage and fulfilled the scope of work we were contracted to perform. A complete deck replacement was not included in the insurance scope or our contract. We understand your concern regarding the light fixture selection and regret any misunderstanding about that portion of the project. Our goal is always to keep projects moving efficiently while restoring the home as quickly as possible for the homeowner. While we respect your opinion, we believe the finished restoration speaks for itself. The home sustained extensive structural and interior damage, and our team successfully returned it to a safe, livable condition while maintaining constant communication throughout most of the project and keeping additional costs to a minimum. Prior to performing any demolition or disturbing drywall materials, we are required to ensure proper testing is completed before work can proceed. Furthermore, due to the age of the home and the discovery of black mastic during our visit, we requested asbestos testing be completed to ensure compliance with New York State regulations and to protect everyone involved. Our priority is always to make sure work is handled safely, properly, and in accordance with all applicable requirements. After requesting the asbestos testing, we unfortunately did not receive any further communication regarding the next steps, which limited our ability to continue progressing the project We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best moving forward.

Reasonable price Struck & Sons was recommended to us in March 2024 after a major fire at our home in Irondequoit, New York. After meeting with them, we knew immediately that we wanted them to handle our reconstruction. From the outset, they dealt with us with skill, integrity, clarity, and with sensitivity to the trauma associated with our destroyed home. Over the next 16 months, we met with Ben and Richard on numerous occasions, some at their office, some at our home, and later had frequent contact with them through email and text messages. They were consistently receptive and alert to our concerns and had the expertise to address our questions thoroughly. Through the course of the extensive project, the skilled professionals brought in (architect, demolition, framing, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, flooring, kitchen, bath, painting - to name just a few) were of the highest craftsmanship and reliability. In any project of such size and complexity, there are likely to be a few times of some different perspectives or disagreement. Although such issues were very few, when they arose, they were addressed with mutual understanding and resolution. From day to day, Richard was frequently onsite with his careful eye, sometimes with instructions to the crews of things he wanted modified or changed. We appreciated his experience, oversight, and attention to detail and quality. Ben primarily oversaw the massive coordination necessary and was consistently present both onsite and regularly by phone, email and text. Midway through the project we asked if it would be possible to be back in the house before our son’s wedding in early July. Struck pushed hard and met that date, enabling us to move back in in late June. Given that timely move, our new home was able to be a welcoming place for both local and out of town guests for such a significant family event. Our new home beautifully maintains the character of the original house while reflecting modernization and numerous upgrades. We sincerely appreciate the entire Struck & Sons organization for the A+ quality of their work and the consistent professionalism of Ben, Richard, the crews, and the entire staff.
