We've had nothing but great experiences with Penfield Plumbing over the years. Most recently, they came out quickly when our hot water tank unexpectedly failed and had a new one installed promptly, making a stressful situation much easier. We have used Penfield Plumbing for over 10 years. They were our 'go-to' company. We had a small pipe leak and called them for help. They told us they could fix it, but only if the main water line was shut off. They said the main shutoff valve wasn’t working and would need to be replaced before they could repair (solder) the pipe. They left without stopping the leak—even though there was a separate shutoff valve just six inches above the damaged section. I discovered that myself the next day. A month later, I had a leak in a different pipe and called a different company. They turned off the main water line with no problem and completed the repair. So I’m still unsure why Penfield Plumbing told me the main shutoff valve needed replacing. I don’t think they were being dishonest—I think it was a mistake. Overpriced | $1,000+ In the past I had penfield plumbing do all my work and their quality was never in question. I had a pinging noise in my water heater. They sent out a tech and he said water pressure was too high. He gave me a quote of $1050 to install new regulator and replace expansion tank. I said that seems pretty high and he said it is 4 hours worth of work. I signed the agreement to do the work which was my bad because I trusted them in the past. Two guys were here working for a max of 1 hour and 15 minutes. I was anticipating them being here all morning. I asked where did the 4 hours come from he said it was 2 people which he never explained to me.I said it still didn’t add up to 4 hours and he would not adjust the bill because I signed the agreement for the amount. I called the office because I felt he over estimated and basically got more excuses. I guess the lesson learned is don’t trust anyone and get quotes from others before you sign. Vinny and Greg did an excellent job for us. They removed and replaced a 90 year old concrete utility sink and replaced 2 equally old outdoor faucets. They were prompt, tidy, efficient, polite, and thoroughly professional.

Toilet was leaking to the room below when flushed. This plumber guy - Vinnie came, said toilet bowl alignment issue. Charged $450. Then, as soon as he left, the flush started malfunctioning. We had to call him back. Replaced flush - $210. So this second visit all of a sudden he mentioned toilet bowl had to be replaced, said $700. We didn’t replace it because all these trips were starting to cost too much! After he left, toilet seat was crooked and the water level low! The stuff wasn’t going down. He is coming a 3rd time now. When we called to complain about the incompetence and the ridiculous prices, the dispatcher hung up on us!🎉 Update: 3rd time, Louis came. He was ok. We had Steve before and he was good. Ask for them specifically. I’d be giving 1 star if it wasn’t for these 2.
