1/7/26: The customer contacted us to replace 4 Nest thermostats with homeowner-supplied Ecobee thermostats. During this visit, the customer also reported that the upstairs was getting excessively hot. Our technician connected the Ecobee thermostats to the existing wiring; however, the living room zone required a complete rewire. (These thermostats are not plug-and-play devices.) Once wired, all 4 thermostats required configuration and testing. This visit took approximately three hours, which is verified by GPS tracking on our service vehicles. There was no $250 service fee charged for this visit. The total charge for this call was $800. The following day, the customer called to report that the master bedroom was not meeting the set temperature and had dropped to 58 degrees. We returned promptly and found that the thermostat needed to be reprogrammed. It was not wired incorrectly. During this visit, the customer again reported that the upstairs was very hot. Our technician determined that the second-floor damper motor had failed, causing it to remain open and continuously deliver hot air. A replacement damper was ordered. While you state the damper was seven years old, zone damper motors typically last between 5 and 15 years, with 5–7 years being common for systems that are frequently used. Our technicians do not quote pricing in the field and are not authorized to do so. On 1/14/26, we returned to replace the damper. The material cost was $360, and the visit took approximately 1.5 hours, again verified by GPS. This invoice mistakenly included a $225 service call charge for the previous visit, which should not have been applied. When this was brought to our attention, we immediately advised that the charge would be removed. The corrected balance for that visit was $687.02, including tax. Our credit card policy is clearly stated on all invoices, “All Open Balances Over 15 Days Will Have the Credit Card Automatically Charged." In this case, the card was charged after 9 days, and 1 of the 2 invoices was not received by the customer. We acknowledge these errors and appreciate them being brought to our attention so they could be addressed. To account for these issues and the inconvenience caused, we issued a $664 credit, reducing the total charges from $1,864 to $1,200. This adjustment reflects the removal of the second service call charge and a reduction to the overall cost of work performed. We value all of our customers and appreciate the opportunity to address concerns and make corrections when needed.
