This company is easily the most unprofessional plumbing company that I have come across. During a storm our water heater broke. My partner called this company to fix the problem. Without coming to the house and over the phone, they told us that it was the motor and that it had to be replaced (an, $800 job). They had to order it, so we waited two days and lived without hot water until the part came. When the plumber came to the house, he said that it was actually the gas valve and replaced the gas valve. He then tells us that the entire heater needs to be replaced because it is submerged in water (not sure why he couldn't see that when he first came). He quoted us $3,000 to replace the heater. My partner and I work in real estate and we know that the replacement cost of our water heater is $1500. I ended up calling another plumber and this was his quote (with an initial quote of $1000). After we told the receptionist,Jessica that we're going with someone else ,she sent us an invoice for $1100. I told her that we will not pay for items and services that weren't needed and that we found a plumber that will replace the water heater for half of what they quoted. She then became belligerent! Saying that we found a plumber off the street (I wish plumbers were in such abundance). The owner ended up only charging us for the parts he used, and not the labor. These parts weren't needed, he should have taken them. He also said that he laid in our basement for an hour (isn't that what plumbers do?). In the end we had to pay $600 to this company for their mistakes. However, in total the money we spent was still significantly less than if we ended up using thBig Apple. BTW the plumber we used is licensed. The difference is that he isn't a scammer and he is professional. Our brownstone needs a lot of work and I know who we will continue to use. As real estate agents we also refer plumbers to our clients and I will never recomend this company. I would never use this company unless you want to pay atleast twice the going rate for parts and labor.

My regular plumber recommended this company after National Grid shut off the gas due to a gas leak in the home. It was a huge ordeal yet in the end it all turned out in good standing with The Dept. Of Buildings who had to approve the repairs that were done. The team of workers all knew their stuff very well and did a great job. Big Apple recently helped me with some DOB violation and permitting issues. That’s more difficult than the actual work sometimes. They had already did my oil to gas conversion, which they did an amazing job on. They not only got my DOB issue resolved but they did it in such a quick amount of time, I’m still stunned. They made a very stressful situation less stressful. They are beyond knowledgeable, professional and reasonable. Most plumbers would have took advantage. They are honest, do great work and know how to navigate DOB. I highly recommend them.

Great price During one of the coldest NYC winter nights that we had ever seen we smelled the faint whiff of gas near the gas meter room. Armed with soapy dish water in a spray bottle we found small imperceptible bubbles forming along one of the ridges of the joints in the pipes. Called Big Apple plumbing who had us call National Grid to come and shut off the line. Unfortunately I had called National Grid in the afternoon and they showed up at 6pm and shut off the whole house gas line. No heat for the night, no hot showers it was not well thought out. Nick and his team came the next morning installed all new piping from the inlet in the wall to the gas meter and replaced the headers and that guaranteed a safe and perfect repair. When I called National Grid to come out to turn back on the heat they said next thursday. 7 full days of no heat or hot water??? I told them it was an emergency bc of the -5 degree weather over the weekend. And they said they would try and put me on a 24 hour emergency turn on list. I had mentioned this dilemna to Nick and he made a few phone calls and someone showed up at 8pm and turned the gas back on. Godsend.... His prices were super reasonable. and it was the best decision ever to go with Big Apple. I would not hesitate to call them again. The fact that I didn't have to wait 7 days for heat and hot water on this cold dreary night I am super thankful. Also I was afraid of my pipes bursting... he more than earned every penny. He followed thru with exceptional customer service even after he finished his job, making sure national grid came out to turn the gas back on. Thank you! Nick at Big Apple Installations was fantastic to work with. I had two NYC DOB violations, and Nick was able to guide me on how to resolve the issues. He was not the cheapest (something I learned a while ago is that you get what you pay for in construction), and I am very glad I picked him. I needed plumbing work done in the basement. The work was done quickly, efficiently, and the result was impeccable. Communication was fantastic, and this was even though I was in South America while the work was being done. I highly recommend anyone to go with Big Apple Installations for any plumbing work that you need.
