We live in California and initially hired Servpro to handle the restoration of our investment property in Arizona. We were satisfied with the work they had completed (over $15,000) on the move-out and clean-up on a very mistreated rental. Back in February, they started the restoration job (over $40,000) with earnest communication, great effort, and promising updates. We felt we were in good hands. Unfortunately, that professionalism vanished. Since those initial weeks, Servpro basically stopped responding to our repeated requests for basic project updates and information. The job is incomplete and we had no choice but to end the contract in mid July. We lost money not being able to rent or sell in a timely manner. What makes this situation even more disappointing is that Servpro was well aware that we live out-of-state. Managing a property restoration from a distance requires trust and communication—both of which Servpro completely broke. They took advantage of the fact that an out-of-state client cannot physically walk into their office to demand answers or review their work and that is highly unprofessional. Now I worry what might be found when the house goes through inspection during a sale. If you are looking for a company that will communicate reliably from start to finish and finish in a timely manner, we strongly advise looking elsewhere.
